About
Tochni curls along a narrow valley halfway between Larnaca and Limassol, the houses built almost entirely of the warm honey-coloured local sandstone the village quarries itself. It's one of the oldest continuously inhabited settlements on the island and one of the best-developed agritourism hubs — a tightly run cluster of restored stone guesthouses has made it a base for cycling, hiking, and horse-riding across the Mediterranean countryside. The Orthodox church of Agios Constantinos and Agia Eleni overlooks the small Byzantine museum and the ruins of a Latin church, and the bridge underneath the church is said to date back to the original founded by St Helena on her return from the Holy Land. A short walk in any direction lands you in olive groves and carob trees. The 2.8 km circular nature trail loops out and back through the valley, and the village is close enough to the south coast for an afternoon swim.
