About
Pissouri is built on a hilltop above the bay that bears its name, halfway between Limassol and Pafos and far enough from both to feel its own. The whitewashed old village climbs the slope in tight lanes around a wide square, with restored stone-built carob warehouses now serving as restaurants and family-run tavernas. The village has its own halloumi tradition and grows the small, sweet, seedless Sultanina grape. The Feast of Agios Andreas in September is the big village panigyri; summer brings open-air events in the amphitheatre and the square. Three kilometres downhill, Pissouri Bay is a separate world — golden-sand beach, calm shallows, watersports, and a curve of restaurants under the spectacular white cliffs of Cape Aspro. Five public footpaths fan out from the bay along the cliffs and through the surrounding scrub, and the area has long been popular with British residents and second-home owners drawn by the mild winters.
