Police near end of probe into officer’s attempted murder of partner; victim critical but stable

Police are in the final stages of their investigation into an attempted murder by a 55-year-old policeman, who then killed himself, as the 46-year-old woman he attacked continues to fight for her life, philenews has learnt.
