One evacuated as car fire damages Nicosia building in suspected arson

A car parked in a makeshift shed adjoining a four-storey building in the Agioi Omologites area of Nicosia caught fire in the early hours of Friday, causing extensive damage to neighbouring premises, a ground-floor gym and nearby shops.

The car, belonging to a 23-year-old woman, was completely destroyed. The fire was reported at 01:10 and brought under control at 02:40 by Fire Service crews, who arrived with two vehicles from the Acropolis Fire Station “Lochias Spyros Ttantis.”...
